Implementing Test-Taking Accommodations<\/h2>\n

How to Begin<\/h3>\n

Provide your professors with a copy of your Accommodation Agreement and arrange a time to speak with them about where<\/u> you will be taking your tests (exams, tests and quizzes).<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re taking online classes, contact the Wellness Center (413-775-1332) to obtain an electronic copy of your Accommodation Agreement. The office administrative assistant will send you an email with the electronic copy attached, which you can then forward to your professors.<\/p>\n

Test Location Options<\/h3>\n

A.\u00a0 GCC\u2019s Testing Center is commonly where students with testing accommodations take their tests.<\/p>\n

Students taking evening, weekend, and online classes should review the Testing Center\u2019s posted office hours to determine potential scheduling challenges.<\/p>\n

C.\u00a0 On-line class professors may allow students to take their tests off-campus. Prior to each test, you should remind your professor that you have an accommodation for extra time.\u00a0 Your professor will adjust Moodle to increase the amount of time you\u2019re allowed for the test.<\/p>\n

Taking Your Tests in the Testing Center<\/h3>\n

1.\u00a0 Talk with your professor about when<\/u> you will need to take your test and how long<\/u> the test will be. You will want to schedule your testing appointment so that you don\u2019t miss class. To ensure fairness, your professor may require you to begin your test (in the Testing Center) at the same time as the rest of your classmates, or before, to accommodate extra time.\u00a0 For your own planning purposes, figure out how much time you\u2019ll be allowed for the test using the extra time accommodation in your Accommodation Agreement.<\/p>\n

Make an appointment with the Testing Center in advance of EACH test to ensure that space is available<\/u>. Request appointments at least 24 hours in advance<\/strong> during the Testing Center\u2019s normal business hours.<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0 Remind your professor that you have testing accommodations at least (3) three school days in advance of EACH test<\/u>. Your professor will need to provide the Testing Center with a copy of your test, as well as information about your testing accommodations. You do not need to provide the Testing Center with a copy of your Accommodation Agreement.<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0 Arrive on time on the day of the test. You may not be allowed to take your test in the Testing Center if you arrive late.<\/p>\n

4.\u00a0 If you need to reschedule your test, check with your professor to be sure the test can be made up and when (time frame).<\/p>\n
