Did you know? Many of our campus activities for students include free light refreshments. Below is a list of upcoming events (when available) with free food for participants (and yes, you should expect to participate if you're eating).

Tuesday April 29 - 9:30am Outdoor Learning Lab

Join us for our annual Garden Clean Up Day! Students, staff, faculty and community members are invited to come and help us get our Outdoor Learning Lab gardens ready for the growing season. Wear clothes you can get dirty and bring gloves if you have them, but we’ll have some on hand as well. No experience necessary—we’ll show you what to do. Come at any point during the day, stay for an hour or for the whole time!

In recognition of Poetry Month, writers and artists featured in the latest edition of Plum, GCC’s literary magazine, share their work at a reading celebrating the magazine’s relaunch, with special guest poet and former GCC English professor Maria Williams. As an adoptee and single mother, Maria often writes poems and stories about belonging, abandonment, family and relationships. Maria is author of the book White Doe (2024) and the chapbook A Love Letter To Say There Is No Love (2011), and her poems have been published in numerous journals including Bellevue Literary Review, Pank, Quarterly West, Allium and Bateau.

Come enjoy a slice courtesy of the Non-Traditional Students Club (NTSC)—meet other students balancing school with work, family or life transitions, and learn how NTSC supports non-traditional students at GCC. We’ll also hear from a fellow non-traditional student who will share their inspiring experiences about the challenges and triumphs of returning to college. Students, faculty and staff are all welcome to stop by, connect and learn more about how we’re building community for non-traditional learners at GCC!

Participants showcase capstone projects from participating courses, as well as independent projects undertaken in any GCC class, internship or clinical/off-site placement. We welcome a diverse array of creative projects—including writing, studio arts, musical performance and drama, all contributing to a vibrant showcase of student talent. GCC’s Office of Workforce Development showcases short-term career training options available to students and job seekers—most of which are tuition-free for eligible applicants! Come explore career pathways and our related training programs via quick hands-on workshops and demos including:

  • Emergency Responder (EMT)
  • Advanced Manufacturing
  • HVAC
  • Information Technology (IT)
  • Teaching Assistant/Paraprofessional

MassHire Franklin Hampshire Workforce Board and Career Center will also offer short workshops focused on navigating a job search, paid training opportunities and access to programs like YouthWorks. Free lunch for participants! Please RSVP.
