Greenfield Community College is excited to invite members of the community to celebrate the legacy and birthday of civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday, January 20, 2020, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Main Campus.

GCC has been celebrating the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. for over a decade, and this year's event will be the largest to date. As tradition, there will be family oriented activities available for young children and a new track of programs for young and older adults.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

Family Makerspace and Creative Zone

• 10am - 12pm: Family-friendly activities focused on children

Panel Presentation Facilitated by Young People

• 10am - 11am: Panel presentation facilitated by youth leaders. Panelists include Carmen Ortiz, former US District Attorney; Robert Carr, Author and Philanthropist; and Elena Quiroz-Livanis, Massachusetts Department of Education.

Workshops

• 11am - 12pm:

1. Children's Voices and the Human Imagination: Slowing Down and Hearing King's Message of Hope (Sloan Theater)
2. Youth Voices on Climate Change (North 250)
3. Q&A Session with Author and Philanthropist Robert Carr (Core 120)

Lunchtime and Choir Performances

• 12pm - 1 p.m.: Lunchtime with choir performances by the GCC Community Choir and the Musica Franklin Program. Remarks by GCC President Yves Salomon-Fernández.   Lunch will be provided.
