GCC Alumna Jillian Morgan on Her Career Path

March 21, 2025

Since graduating GCC in 2008, Jillian Morgan has gone on to meaningful and fulfilling work as the Director of Development at the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts.

In a recent conversation, she explained that her path wasn’t always clear. "When I started at GCC, I was really unsure of my career direction and also unsure if college was for me," she said. Initially pursuing theater, Morgan found that GCC provided the space and opportunities for self-discovery and personal growth.

"My time at GCC taught me that I enjoyed learning and sparked a curiosity in me that helped to fuel me to pursue further education at UMass and Bay Path," Morgan explained. She emphasized how GCC laid the foundation for her future success, opening doors to advanced degrees and, ultimately, a fulfilling career in community service.

In her current role at the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts, Morgan witnesses firsthand the generosity and kindness prevalent in our region. "The Food Bank works with over 190 food pantries and meal sites who are so passionate about making sure that people have food to put on their tables," she noted.

Reflecting on GCC's impact on the area, Morgan said, "How lucky are we to have a place like GCC right here in Franklin County that helps thousands of people pursue their dreams and lead productive lives and contributes to making this area a great place to live?"

She continued, “For me, it was a place that gave me the space to figure out who I was, the confidence to embrace my curiosity, and the foundation to pursue a career where I get to make a difference every day."
