The studio provides a safe haven<\/strong> for students to be vulnerable with peers and gain wisdom<\/strong> from those who may be experiencing similar journeys.<\/strong><\/div>\n

GCC is just one of the many resources this community has to offer. We understand that a network of support is necessary for an individual to achieve goals and create sustainable changes in life.<\/p>\n
Organizations from Western Massachusetts share space\u00a0in the studio during fall and summer semesters to provide additional support to GCC students. When the space is not in use by one of these organizations, students can feel free to use it\u00a0for quiet study and reflection. The studio features a Netflix-enabled television, printer and laptop for student use, and helpful reading material and information.<\/p>\n
Resource Studio services are available to current students at no cost.<\/strong><\/p>\n

All Recovery<\/strong>
\nAll Recovery meetings are based on the idea that there are tremendous benefits to bringing people together from multiple paths of recovery<\/strong><\/em>. These meetings honor all pathways to recovery and celebrate each person\u2019s unique personal strengths. Organizers believe that everyone is recovering from something\u2014childhood abuse, depression, domestic violence, and drug and alcohol abuse for examples\u2014and that lasting recovery happens in relationship<\/em><\/strong>. Meetings are an opportunity to social support focusing on hope, healing and maintaining a recovery lifestyle. Come, socialize, and share!<\/p>\n
Recover Project<\/strong>
\nThe RECOVER Project<\/a> is a peer-to-peer support program for adults in all stages of recovery. The RP provides trauma-informed support based on the principle that people can and do recover<\/strong><\/em> from alcohol and drug addiction, and that competence and wisdom reside in those with lived experience<\/strong><\/em>. Greenfield\u2019s Recover Project is a nationally recognized model for providing opportunities to give and receive support through educational, volunteer, social, and skill building activities, building leadership, developing strength, and overcoming isolation. Participate, Grow, RECOVER!<\/p>\n
CHD Recovery Coaching<\/strong>
\nRecovery is not a destination, it is a journey. A recovery coach is a personal guide who can help you remove obstacles and barriers that may be in between you and your personal recovery<\/strong><\/em> from alcoholism and\/or addiction. The Center for Human Development\u2019s trained and certified recovery coaches use his or her lived experience to help you navigate different community resources. From attending events, or simply talking about recovery, a coach will be there to help in any way possible.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Greetings!<\/strong>\u00a0 On behalf of GCC I want to welcome you into our community. I also wanted to make you aware that if you are a student in recovery who has some anxiety about starting your journey in higher education, you are not alone! We have many students at GCC at all phases in their recovery. We have faculty and staff who are knowledgeable about substance abuse disorders that you can talk to when you need someone to confide in.<\/p>\n
On this page you will find a lot of information regarding resources on campus for students in recovery.\u00a0 I wanted to make you aware of some resources that exist for you at the college.\u00a0While we cannot begin to offer the resources you will find at agencies in the community, we do offer support for our students in recovery that I hope you will find helpful to you in your journey.\u00a0 We have three recovery meetings on campus during the week, recovery coaching available and the Recover Project offers open hours in our Community Resource Studio.<\/p>\n
Additionally, GCC has a partnership with the Opioid Task Force.\u00a0 Though this partnership we offer the Growth and Recovery Though Learning Initiative.\u00a0 This involves enrollment in a not for credit, ten week seminar called \u201cCollege Success for Students in Recovery.\u201d\u00a0 The course is free and successful completion results in the awarding of up to $1000 in scholarship money to be put toward your education at GCC.<\/p>\n
Changing Lives Through Literature is a private reading group for judges, probationers and probation officers.\u00a0 This is an alternative sentencing program based on the power of literature to transform lives through reading and group discussion.\u00a0 If you are on probation, participation may reduce the time you spend on it.\u00a0 More information can be obtained by calling Leo Hwang at 775-1221.<\/p>\n
