Even if the situation appears relatively safe, if the mind interprets it as unsafe, the body responds to that message.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-weight: normal;\">If we become <strong>mentally involved<\/strong> with thoughts of a past event, the <strong>body<\/strong> may <strong>respond<\/strong> as though that event were taking place now.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-weight: normal;\">When we question whether we can handle a fearful situation, we tend to unconsciously predict failure. Our body responds to our fearful thought by becoming tense and on guard.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-weight: normal;\">If we visualize ourselves failing to cope with a future event, our body will tend to respond as though we are currently in that event.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-weight: normal;\">Within the panic cycle, the <strong>body is responding appropriately<\/strong> to unnecessarily alarming messages sent by the mind.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-weight: normal;\">By <strong>changing<\/strong> our <strong>images<\/strong>, our <strong>thoughts<\/strong> and our <strong>predictions<\/strong> about our ability to cope, we can <strong>control<\/strong> our physical <strong>symptoms<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-weight: normal;\">When we become anxious, our rate and pattern of <strong>breathing<\/strong> change. These changes can produce <strong>hyperventilation<\/strong> that may cause many of the uncomfortable physical symptoms during panic. By changing the way we breathe we can <strong>reduce<\/strong> all of those <strong>uncomfortable symptoms<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Tips for dealing with stress<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Don't worry about things you can't control, like the weather.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare to the best of your ability for events you know may be stressful, like a job interview.<\/li>\n<li>Try to look at change as a positive challenge, not a threat.<\/li>\n<li>Work to resolve conflicts with other people.<\/li>\n<li>Ask for help from friends, family or professionals.<\/li>\n<li>Set realistic goals at home and at work.<\/li>\n<li>Exercise on a regular basis.<\/li>\n<li>Eat well-balanced meals and get enough sleep.<\/li>\n<li>Meditate.<\/li>\n<li>Get away from your daily stresses with group sports, social events and hobbies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our body properly responds to the messages sent to it by the mind.
